March 2022 Move With Us

Newsletters The Gladen Rohrer Team April 14, 2022

Gladen Rohrer Team Move With Us News cover for March 2022, featuring a red rose in a garden.

Is that spring we see?

In typical fashion, March came in like a lion but is showing its lamb side as we write these very words.

The real estate market, on the other hand, roars louder and louder with each passing week.

With sale prices, interest rates, and rents all climbing steadily, this is one of those unique times when it's a great idea to buy AND to sell.

And while this low inventory market sees us working largely with buyers, we do have four fantastic new listings coming on in the next few weeks.*

We believe that the Spring market may be the best one yet!

Join us, won't you?

Compass ranked the number one U.S. brokerage by 2021 closed sales volume.

After less than a decade,
Compass is now the #1 brokerage in the country

In closed sales volume, Compass outperformed every brokerage in the country in 2021—thanks to our leadership, our personnel, and not least of all, you.

As we surge forward into the future, our team is excited to be part of such a dynamic company, which remains as dedicated as we are to serving our clients with the best resources, technology, and support in the country.

The Fed raised interest rates on Wednesday

For the first time since 2018, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates to combat rising inflation (and according to the New York Times, is predicted to do so again six more times before year's end).

So what does this mean for real estate?

For buyers, it signals that it likely won't get any cheaper to borrow money for the foreseeable future, so move quickly. For sellers, it's likely property values will rise as buyers scramble to take advantage of rates while they're still low.

RIP Dom DeMarco of Di Fara Pizza

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Domenico "Dom" DeMarco, the legendary pizzaiolo who made arguably the greatest pizza in New York City. Born in Italy but an American since 1959, he crafted and baked his famous pies for over 50 years from his shop in Midwood, assisted only by his children. His is a legend that will live on forever in Brooklyn lore.

Skating at Rockefeller Center.
It's not just for winter anymore.

Why should you also be freezing cold to enjoy the sensation of feeling like you're going to fall on your ass? According to Time Out New York, you can enjoy this unique form of torture year round, as roller skating takes over Rockefeller Center this spring, and every spring thereafter. Let us know how it goes!

Did you know hipsters have nine different words for avocado toast?

And you can try them all at Cafe Rose Petals. Patch.com reports that this hip new cafe is taking over the spot in South Slope formerly occupied by Behind Bars, a bike shop that has since moved to the Brooklyn Army Terminal. Reviews for the cafe have so far been positive.

The return of the Prospect Park Soiree

Tickets are now on sale for "Brooklyn's most magical gathering." The Prospect Park Soiree—taking place this year on June 25th—provides tables and chairs, but leaves the rest up to attendees. Get your tickets now, because after May 1st, prices jump. All proceeds go to the Prospect Park Alliance.

Oonie's comin'

The Department of Transportation is rolling out a pilot program for "Minis," six-bike corrals created by Brooklyn-based company Oonie. These secure bike shelters will be placed each month in different locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Data will determine how the program rolls out.
