The BQE Saga Continues

Past issues of this newsletter have feaatured pie-in-the-sky ideas about how the city should attack the issue of the crumbling BQE overpass under the Brooklyn Promenade. Recently the Brooklyn Daily Eagle Reported on a new proposal, that seems to us laypeople as the most rational and least disruptive design yet, so we had to share it with you.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Join the fun at this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade on Monday, March 17, 2025! The celebration kicks off at 11am and continues until about 4:30pm. The parade route starts at 44th Street and travels up Fifth Avenue past the beautiful St. Patrick's Cathedral, ending at 79th Street.

The entire Fifth Avenue route offers fantastic spots to watch the festivities! Early birds definitely get the best views, so plan to arrive ahead of time.

OR..., a Queer take on St Paddy's day

Ginger's Bar, a staple of queer Brooklyn will be celebrating their 25th anniversary over St. Patrick's day weekend from March 14 until March 16.

This stalwart homestead for lesbians and their allies will be partying with live Irish music, DJ sets, Irish dancing and special guest appearances from Ireland itself. Limited tickets will be available at the door, but your safest bet is to get presale tickets to all of these events, which you can find a link to in their Instagram bio.

Check out Sandwich Girl!

Do you remember how Joey Tribbiani on Friends loved sandwiches? If you're in Park Slope and you got a hankering, you should check out Sandwich Girl. Joey would be in heaven. They have a wide variety of sandwiches you won't find any where else. The menu is fantastic and the bun selection alone is crazy, including Mac/Cheese bun, Eggplant bun, kalamata olive. I just had the very delicious BB (Baddest B*tch) and it was. They also currently have an exhibit of photos by local artist Greta Mansour. Really worth a stop!
